Who says May 24 is the kick off to summer?? This year we were lucky...Can you believe April 18 and 26 degrees? It was such a beautiful day, and after spending some time in town and at the beach I decided to have our first campfire of the year. Travis and Kaitlin were having a friend each over to sleepover that night so I thought grill-a-dogs would be perfect back at the pond. We also invited 2 friends and their kids to come over too. So we had 3 adults and 12 kids! Everyone had a blast though. It's been a long winter and being able to be back at the pond on a warm day is exciting. Especially since it's early in the season and we have the whole summer yet to come. Here's some pictures of our first pond night of the year!

Chasing butterflies

"What a beautiful day when we can sit and watch our children play"

Yesterday the kids were so happy to play outside in the warm sunshine. During afternoon they came across a playful black butterfly. I didn't think much of at first, since I was on the phone and digging in the garden. Every so often though, they would run by chasing their new friend. I had thought about the getting the camera but figured the butterfly would fly away soon and that would be that. Well no, an hour later they were still following it around! They would lose it, then sure enough it would come back again. They were able to get right up close to it and I tried to talk Dawson out of actually catching it, explaining that it would probably get hurt in the process. So they just watched it and chased it until finally it must have got tired and flew away.
It's true what they say, kids get bored of toys so fast but take them outside and they have so much more fun investigating and playing around. Seeing these innocent little kids laughing and running after this butterfly was so precious and reminds me of being thankful of the little things during my days.
