Our Community Garden!

This year my friend Laurie had a great idea. With extra space at her house and the amount of time our families spend together why not create a garden together?! Four families working together to have one hopefully successful garden. Working on this is Tammy, Riley, Brianna, and Brady G, Kim, Sydney, Sara and Shayna H, Laurie, Connor, Chandler, Cameron and Colin W, and us.

Here's some of our 14 kids under the tree with Buddy the dog!
Getting ready to plant potatoes.

Good thing we have lots of tools. Everyone wants to help! We'll see how long that last!

Some of the girls.

Waiting for seeds!

So, I will be updating on this project with more pics along the way. We are out to prove our to our husbands that this will work!!

Spring fishing

Today Dan promised the kids they could go fishing back at our creek. First off they had to find some worms at the pond. This is always half the fun of fishing. While Travis doesn't like touching the wiggly things, the three others have no problem at all helping gather a container full. (Travis was brave enough to try to take the fish off his hook this year.) My girly tomboy!

My three boys!

Driving back to the creek.

Travis and Dawson biked back.

Fishing. There were lots of fish to keep the kids busy. They caught enough to keep Dan busy with putting on/taking off worms and fish!

Dawson and one of his fish!

May 24 campfire with friends in Wilt's bush

To start the weekend off a bunch of neighbours and friends got together for a campfire and fireworks in the bush across the road from us. My kids along with lots more had a blast running and playing in the woods before hotdogs, marshmallows and sparklers. Here's Shayna and Kortney. Travis and Chandler getting into the chips and pop!

Kortney and Kaitlin. Colin let Kortney borrow his headlight which she loved!

Dawson, Kierran, Kaitlin and Julian waiting for the fireworks to start!

Just afew pics from the night. We were lucky the rain held off until we left!

Two weeks ago

This pictures isn't great, but in the afternoon I noticed one of the bald eagles that roam around here in our backyard. There is a pair of them in the area, but this is the first time I've seen one. We also had two new additions to the farm a couple of weeks ago. Pica, one of our cats had her kittens. Of course the kids are in love with them and are out everyday to hold and pet them. Pica ended up having them up one of the "big shelves" (Sorry it's too late at night to think of the proper name for them) in the bike trailer. The kids have no problem climbing up to get them and luckily Pica doesn't seem to mind us touching her babies. Here are afew pictures.

Simple Pleasures

As everyone knows kids just never seem to get tired of blowing bubbles. Something so simple, yet to a child an amazing trick of being able to blow and then catch the bubbles! Today was a beautiful day and I just couldn't help but take pictures of the kids just having fun and enjoying the day!

Dawson's bubble he caught after blowing it.
Chloe and one of her bubbles.

Cassie and Kortney trying desperately to blow some bubbles too!

Kortney kepted on trying! Once and a while she'd blow afew!

Swan Lake

It's that time of year again for Kaitlin's ballet recital. When I say recital it almost sounds "schoolish". The dancing takes place at the Blyth Theater on a real stage with real dressing rooms. (3 years ago it was in a school instead) The almost 3 hr presentation is quite impressive with the showcase of dance classes including ballet, tap, jazz and highland. After that there is always a ballet production. This year was Swan Lake and yes Kaitlin is finally old enough to have a part in it this year. Her group were the 'children' of the story. Kaitlin has been very excited about today and hasn't minded the hours of rehearsal that went into it. She isn't stage shy and loves everything about it from the costumes, makeup, hair, and special attention. She's hoping next year to do both ballet and start jazz as well. So we'll see.....As for this year she did awesome! We are very proud!

Since photos during the show in prohibited, I tried to take some without my flash. Here are some that didn't turn out fuzzy! It doesn't do the night justice, but you can get the idea.
Here is Kaitlin with Hannah in their Swan Lake costumes.
This is her on stage during Swan Lake.

This is durning the showcase dance. She is the first one in the picture.

Again another picture in the dressing room.
