A warm winter walk

The days have been so beautiful and perfect for checking out the property after a long winter. It was sooo nice to get back to the pond. It felt like just yesterday we were there enjoying the fall leaves. We all can't wait for spring to come so we can enjoy being back there without treading through deep snow to get there.

This picture is us walking from the "first pond," through the fence and into the clearing at the pond. We came through the field instead of using the lane way.

Travis of course too his pocket knife to widdle away at branches and carve his name in the odd tree.

Here's Korntey on one of our tobogganing tubes. It was much easier pulling her on this then caring her through the deep snow. And of course she loved it!

Baby Lambs part 1

We have almost gotten through another season of lambing with better success then last year. To date we have 54 lambs and two more moms still to go! While our death rate this year only stands at two (both born dead) there have been a lot of single and twin births. There has only been two sets of triplets. So the numbers could have been abit more, but we are thrilled with having the death rate so low. That's due partially to learning from our mistakes and a good winter without the bitter temperatures. Dan and Harve also built a nursery that fits six moms along with their babies. The moms all had their turn in the nursery for a day or more then were moved out when more babies came. It worked well, and really helped to get the babies warmed up.

This little guy's mom got sick afew days after giving birth. We really thought she wouldn't make it, but is doing better for now. We started bottle feeding, when the mom was sick and will have to continue since she doesn't have any milk. Kortney and Dawson take turns feed him. He is now very friendly and comes running when he sees the bottle!
