We did it again!

On Friday was our school's annual carnival put on by the SAC. (School Advisory Council aka parents) This was our 7th year running this huge event. It takes our group of parents months to plan and collect the average 300 silent auction items and lots of penny sale items. Our theme this year was Hawaiian and all the kids had a blast dressing up and getting into the spirit. We transformed the gym and hallways with lots of leis, hula skirts, kid's paintings, flowers, balloons, 2 tiki huts and more! It looked great and everyone was very excited for it. We weren't sure if we would get the same community response with auction items, but we were pleasantly surprised a usual high number. The night consisted of a bake sale table, silent auction, lots of food including candyfloss and popcorn, a penny sale table, games room facepainting and clown. It took a lot of work, but the night turned out great! It looks like at the end we raised around $13,000 before expenses!! This all from our little school! We divide up the money to all the classrooms, gym, music program, library, in the past it bought some of the smartboards in the school, a video camera, tv, our outdoor sign just to name afew. So now is the fun part...spending the money on the school and kids! Without this money the kids would not have the advantages the school can offer. The volunteers and community support is truly amazing!!

Here is Kaitlin helping the principal in the games room making slushies!
