Mildmay Tournament

After a very busy weekend of broomball the boys were very happy to have won gold!. The tournament started first thing Sat morning in Mildmay. (about 45 min North East of here) The first game was against Mildmay red which Blyth won 1-0. Their second game was against the Blyth green team. We have yet to beat this team this season, and with friends on the other side it was a tense game which went into overtime. (The parents in the stands HATE overtime. Very nerve racking for us!!) The game ended with Blyth green winning 1-0. From there our team went on to play the Seaforth team. Another hard game to watch, since my close friend Kim's daughter plays on that team and Rob Kim's husband coaches it. Blyth yellow outplayed Seaforth and won 2-0. So that was Saturday...Did I mention my girls were shuffled around from aftew houses so they could go to a birthday party. I did come back to pick them up and drove back to Mildmay for the Sat night game. So, onto Sunday...and who do we play - Blyth green again. The boys went into the game thinking they would be put out. But they surprised themselves and and got 2 goals in the first half on the first period! The team was pumped, the parents on the stands were ecstatic (at least Blyth yellow's parents) and then to win the game, one more goal in the second period to win the game! Blyth yellow was thrilled! Now for the last game. Against Mildmay green. They knew they could beat them, but both teams were out to win. So after what seemed to be a very long game Blyth yellow won 1-0 winning the gold for the Peewee division of the tournament!! It was a long weekend with lots of time to kill in between games, it was great!

We were very lucky this year to have all of us together for Christmas. All 29 of us! The kids had lots of fun over the weekend playing and running!

Christmas up north

After a wonderful Christmas day, we headed up north to Grandma B's. The kids couldn't wait to get there and see everyone.

Christmas cookies

Of course every Christmas we bake cookies. Today in the midst of "school snow days" we kept busy trying out a new cookie punch with our sugar cookies.

Kaitlin just loves getting her hands messy! I have to stop and try to have patience while letting her knead the dough and roll it out. I just want to take over and do it myself, but baking forces me to let go of the control of making "perfect" cookies. Kortney and Dawson really like to help too. Everyone wants to play in the dough and flour!

Wow, times has gone by fast. Here I am updating pics from the beginning of the Christmas season!

Here we all are decorating our real tree we receive as a gift from Dan's boss each year. The kids are always very excited to dig into the Christmas boxes and find our forgotten treasures from the year before.

Dawson is always willing to help out! He was determined to decorate the top half of the tree. I guess he thinks the lower half is for little kids. He just had to stand on a chair and reach as far as he could.

Daddy and Kaitlin helping add decorations.
We were a little surprised that Travis didn't want to decorate the tree this year. He was more worried about his homework he had left till this Sunday night. I tried to get him to help and not worry about the homework, but he wanted to get it done. He did however love decorating his own smaller tree afew days before.
